Dispute Resolution & Litigation

Dispute Resolution & Litigation

When a dispute can no longer be resolved out of court, you need someone who knows the way through the proceedings.

Private individuals are represented before courts and authorities, whether in civil disputes, appeals against administrative decisions or other contentious matters.

Proceedings often take longer than expected and rarely run in a straight line. Decisions by the opposing party, new evidence or procedural developments require constant strategic adjustment.

The task is to represent the client's position clearly and consistently at every stage, from the first submission to the final judgment.

Frequently asked questions

How does a civil lawsuit work in Liechtenstein?

At first instance, the Princely Court of Justice (Landgericht) in Vaduz decides. Its judgments can be appealed to the Princely Court of Appeal (Obergericht); the final instance is the Princely Supreme Court (Oberster Gerichtshof). Many civil claims also require a prior conciliation attempt before the competent mediation office (Vermittleramt).

How long does a court case take?

That depends heavily on the case: its complexity, the scope of evidence and whether appeals are lodged. We give you a reliable estimate once we have reviewed the documents. It is often worth keeping a settlement in view in parallel.

Who pays the costs of a lawsuit?

As a rule, the losing party must reimburse the winning party's court and legal costs, proportionally if a party wins in part. Before we start proceedings, we discuss the cost risk with you openly.
