Digital is no longer a trend. It is everyday reality, and long since a legal space in its own right. Anyone who trades, publishes, processes data or operates a platform online navigates an environment that raises legal questions just as the physical world does, often faster and with less precedent.
Mairhofer Advokatur advises companies and individuals across this field: from contractual questions around digital business models and data protection to AI compliance, reputation protection and violations of personal rights online.
Anyone who is publicly visible, as a business, a brand or a person, is also exposed. When it happens, we know what to do.
What we do
- Contracts for digital business models: terms and conditions, SaaS, licensing, platform and development agreements
- Data protection under the GDPR and the Liechtenstein Data Protection Act: privacy notices, data processing agreements, records and data subject requests
- AI compliance: classifying AI applications, internal policies and contractual safeguards when using AI
- Reputation protection: action against defamatory or false content, removal requests to platforms and search engines
- Violations of personal rights online, out of court and, where necessary, in court

Frequently asked questions
Does the GDPR apply in Liechtenstein?
Yes. Liechtenstein is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), so the General Data Protection Regulation applies here too, supplemented by the Liechtenstein Data Protection Act. The competent supervisory authority is the Liechtenstein Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzstelle).
What can I do if false or damaging content about me is published online?
First, we secure the evidence: screenshots, links, timestamps. We then assess which claims exist, such as removal, injunctive relief or damages, and against whom: the author, the platform or a search engine. Content can often be removed out of court; where it cannot, we take legal action.
Do I need legal rules for using AI in my business?
In most cases, yes. Anyone using AI has to keep data protection, trade secrets, copyright and liability in view, plus any additional regulatory requirements that apply to the use case. Clear internal policies and suitable contracts with providers keep an efficiency gain from turning into a liability risk.
