Banking, Insurance & Financial Markets Law

Banking, Insurance & Financial Markets Law

Financial institutions, insurers and businesses operate in an environment where contracts must not only be legally correct. They must hold when it matters.

Mairhofer Advokatur advises banks and SMEs on the structuring and review of financing agreements, security arrangements and regulatory requirements.

For clients who wish to establish and administer a structure, the work does not end at the notary: in collaboration with Lumen Advisory, we provide complete end-to-end support: the client hands over the documents and we handle the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Who supervises banks and insurers in Liechtenstein?

The Financial Market Authority Liechtenstein (FMA) is the integrated supervisor for banks, insurers, asset managers, funds and other financial intermediaries. As an EEA member, Liechtenstein also implements European financial market law, an advantage for institutions operating across borders.

What should an SME look out for in a loan agreement?

Beyond interest and term, above all the ancillary provisions: termination rights, covenants, reporting obligations and the security required. These clauses decide how much room you have when business develops differently than planned.

Do you also handle setting up and administering structures?

Yes. We handle the legal work and notarisation, while fiduciary administration is provided in cooperation with Lumen Advisory. You get formation and ongoing administration from a single source.
